What is this bug all about??
Social Networking website has been flooded with a pop up message Bom Sabado.
The regular user of Orkut has been facing the problem of bug Sabado. It is an auto generated message which is filing your scrapebooks.
However, it is not clear yet that the Bom Sabado is a virus or not.
A word of advice
But the Orkut user who have faced this problem are advised to change your password and security question. Log out immediately and clear the cookies and history.
Users are also advised not to open such scraps. The bug is hitting your cookies and automatically sending messages to your friend list.
Earlier, popular microblogging website Twitter was also hijacked by a hacker to raise question over the security of the website.
How can it be fixed?
The worm injects a hidden iframe containing a malicious javascript http://tptools.org/worm.js [do not click this], which steals the user cookie which contains the password in an encoded form. So the attacker do not get to know your plaintext password but can login using your credentials by impersonating using the cookie to fool the identification system. So a trivial solution is to diable javascript, another solution is to disable iframes or u can take an advanced measure by blocking the domain http://tptools.org/ by editing your hosts file and redirecting it to a safe address, say 127.0.0.1
go to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
There is a file named 'hosts'. By default it is read-only. Go to it properties and uncheck the tickmark beside read-only
edit it with you favourite editor.
add this line at the end of it
127.0.0.1 tptools.org
save it. and then restart your network interface. ( in simple words, just reconnect your interner connection ) and bingo! the worm'll be useless.

Trick to block websites in Mozilla Firefox,Opera and IE
You can easily and effectivily block access to a website by adding it to your Windows HOSTS file.(Yes, Hosts is capitalised for some strange reason). Without any software. Doesn't matter what browser that you use.
1.Go to your HOSTS file which is located at:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC for windows Vista and XP
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC for Windows 2k
C:\WINDOWS for Windows 98 and ME
2. Open HOSTS with Notepad.
(but before this, make its backup in some other drive)
The default Windows HOSTS looks like this:
______________________
# Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a "#" symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
_____________________________
3. Directly under the line that says 127.0.0.1 Localhost, you will want to type:
127.0.0.1 name of the URL you want to block
For example to block the MySpace.com homepage (highly recommended!), simply type:
127.0.0.1 myspace.com
127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com
Other parts of MySpace could be blocked in a similar way:
127.0.0.1 search.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 profile.myspace.com
etc etc etc...
You may need to add sites with both with and without the "www.". Test after blocking to make sure you got it right.
You can add as many sites as you wish to block in this fashion. I, myself, have over 12000 undesireable and dangerous sites in my personal HOSTS file!
4. Close Notepad and answer "Yes" when prompted.
5. Reboot your computer and attempt to access your now blocked website. You should see a Cannot find server or DNS Error saying: "The page cannot be displayed".

Test UR Anti-virus
To test if your antivirus is in good shape you should do as in continuing:
Open Notepad and copy this text:
X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
the text should be in one horizontal line
Then save file as "eicar.com" including quotation-marks
After some seconds saving this file your antivirus should come with the message that this file is infected virus asking permision for its deletetion/clean.
This file is secure and its not gonna infect your computer in whatever way.It is a standart text developed by the European Institute for Computer Anti-virus Research (EICAR).Every antivirus is programed to load this file as a virus.
If your antivirus is not going to hack this file as a virus ,in your screen will appear DOS window with this text EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE".If this happens then you should probably find some other Antivirus up to date, meaning your PC might
already being infected from viruses and your curent antivirus do not recognize them

Compress Your 1 GB data/movie in Just 10 MB
It is Amazing to say compress ur 1GB data/move into 10MB. Really it is possible with the KGB Freeware (Open source) software. U can Down load the software from
http://rapidshare.com/files/74707715/KGB_Archiver.rar
and follow the following the steps.
Its damn simple..Heres the procedure.. U can compress that data in two formats..1) KGB format 2) ZIP format ..Everyone knows the ZIP format..I tell u which is better & why..If u do it in KGB format it takes 5-6 hours on a 256 mb RAM, to compress 1 GB data/movie in less than 10 MB , but (this is not which i prefer) coz to decompress u take the same time.. So its useless..& u need KGB archiver only only for this format to decompress..But if u do it in ZIP format it takes 6-7 hours on a 256 MB ram, but i tell u its worth coz WINRAR & WINZIP both can decompress it in seconds.. OK now its clear that which format to use & which is better..Now we'll go how to use that software...
Run the application>> It asks for which file u wanna compress>> select the file>> after u select>> U get two options in which format u want to compress it>> select ZIP format ( I prefer ) >> and then set compression level to maximum (maximum the compression level , small the size of it will be compressed)>> Just ignore the time given below it coz its just useless....... There is option that u can auto shutdown ur computer after the compression is over..SO u can got school/college/office & keep it to get compressed...
[Note: KGB is best for 512 RAM and more then 2.xxGHz processer]

How do I capture an image from a movie in Microsoft Windows Media Player?
How do I capture an image from a movie in Microsoft Windows Media Player?
Often a user may attempt to capture an image from a video in Microsoft Windows Media Player using the print screen button. Unfortunately when pasting the image into an image editor the capture will be a blank or black image.
Answer:
There are several different answers that can apply to this question. Depending on the type of movie that is being played and what codec it is using may change what will work and what will not work. We suggest going through each of the below recommendations, if a solution does not work continue down the list.
First Option:
While in Microsoft Windows Media Player press "CTRL + I", if the video you are watching is using a Microsoft supported movie file you should receive a "Save Captured Image" window, allowing you to save the image as "capture" or any other name.
Although this solution is a quick and easy solution, you may not get the results you want as the image will often be smaller and lesser quality then what you see when you press the keys. If you wish to capture better images at any size, even full screen try the second solution.
Second Option:
This solution should only be used to capture images from any video, once done it should be changed back as it may cause other issues. However, this should work with all types of video files.
1. Open Microsoft Windows Media Player.
2. Click Tools and then Options.
3. Within the Options window click the Performance tab.
4. Within Performance click the Advanced button.
5. In Video Acceleration Settings uncheck "Use Overlays"
6. Click Ok.
7. Finally, click Apply and then Ok in the Options window.
Final Option:
Use a third-party capturing program..

How will you know if you've got a virus or worm that your antivirus software doesn't detect?
Start by looking for unusual activity on your PC, such as unexplained hard-disk activity (listen for disk sounds or watch the PC's disk access LED) or network access. (Note that unexplained hard-disk activity and network communications are usually harmless)
To put an icon in your Windows XP system tray that shows when programs are using your network connection, choose Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, right-click the network connection you want to monitor, choose Properties, check Show icon in notification area when connected, and click OK
Be sure to configure your antivirus software to update automatically, and schedule daily virus scans of your PC. Some vendors issue multiple updates in a single day to counter new threats. If you think you may have been hit, don't hesitate to update your software and scan for viruses manually. Remember: If your software is set to perform scans and to download updates, but your computer is generally in standby mode or powered off at that time, you have a problem.
If you suspect that your PC has a virus or worm, but your antivirus software has not detected or stopped it, take these steps to prevent it from spreading.
Pull the plug: Physically disconnect phone lines, network cables, and wireless cards (or turn built-in wireless units off). This will instantly stop viruses and Trojan horses on your PC from connecting to or infecting other computers, and will keep your PC safe from some worms.
Now pull the other plug: Don't open, close, or save anything (unless not saving would cause important work to be lost). And don't shut down Windows. Turn the PC off instead. This blocks viruses from creating or modifying any more files on your hard disk as part of Windows' normal shutdown process, which is when many of these modifications occur.
Use a recovery disk: The best antivirus programs let you create a bootable rescue or recovery floppy or CD so you can restart your computer without activating viruses lurking on the PC's hard disk. Check your program's online help or manual for the steps required to create a recovery disk, and then test the disk to make sure your PC is configured to boot from removable media.

SPEED UP UR ACROBAT READER (ALMOST LIKE NOTEPAD)
Do u get irritated when acrobat reader takes 5/10 seconds to load when you want to open a pdf document. There is a way to speed up the loading.
1. Go to the installation folder of acrobat reader
(C:\program files\adobe\acrobat\reader\.. whatever)
2. Move all the files and folders from the "plugins" directory to the "Optional" directory. (I repeat.. cut and paste the files NOT copy & paste).
Also make sure that acrobat reader is not open else it will lock the files and not allow you to move the files).
Now your acrobat reader will load very fast
and almost as good as notepad..

2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Hack Your BIOS for Faster Startups
You can speed up your startup procedures by changing the BIOS with the built-in
setup utility. How you run this utility varies from PC to PC, but you typically get to it
by pressing the Delete, F1, or F10 keys during startup. You'll come to a menu with a
variety of choices. Here are the choices to make for faster system startups:
Quick Power On Self Test (POST)
When you choose this option, your system runs an abbreviated POST rather than the
normal, lengthy one.
Boot Up Floppy Seek
Disable this option. When it's enabled, your system spends a few extra seconds
looking for your floppy drivea relatively pointless procedure, especially considering
how infrequently you use your floppy drive.
Boot Delay
Some systems let you delay booting after you turn on your PC so that your hard drive
gets a chance to start spinning before bootup. Most likely, you don't need to have this
boot delay, so turn it off. If you run into problems, however, you can turn it back on.

ReTITILE INTERNET EXPLORER
By default, Internet Explorer's title bar shows the name of the Web site you're
viewing, followed by "Microsoft Internet Explorer"--or in some cases, your
company's name or the name of the ISP that supplied the browser. To change the
repeating text in IE's title bar (or to get rid of it altogether), navigate to and select
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main in the Registry
Editor, and double-click the Window Title icon in the right pane. (If you don't see this
icon, right-click in the pane, choose New, String Value, type Window Title, and press
.) Type what you want to see on IE's title bar, or type nothing to show only
the site name. Note that the hyphen that normally separates the site name from the
page title will remain. When you relaunch Internet Explorer, you will see the change.
